Capital Theatre, originally built in 1954, is a specific theatre belonging to the theatre company. In the past 40 years, the Capital Theatre has showed the achievements established by the theatre's artists generation after generation. The Capital Theatre is recorded in world’s architecture history with its simple and unsophisticated, dignified and grandiose architect style.

Capital Theatre is located on Wangfujing Street, the downtown district of Beijing. The theatre building is 116 meters in length, 42 meters in width, with an building area of 15000 square meters, covering an area of 6,300 square meters, gathering performing space, rehearsal room and office are as a whole. The lounge and auditorium decorated with lanterns in varied forms have classical flavor and imposing manner. The performing area is of 517 square meters, with depth of 22.7 meters, height of 22 meters; the stage is 13 meters wide, 9 meters high, and the roundtable has a diameter of 16 meters.

The theatre is equipped with double route electricity and central controlled air-conditioning, and it is one of the best-equipped theatres all over the country.

Besides used for the theatre, Capital Theatre is also the top choice by other troupes at home and abroad. Officials of the central government often come to watch performances. In 1999, the Beijing municipal government invested 70 million yuan to renovate the theatre. The newly renovated Capital Theatre not only reaches a high level of anti-earthquake and fire-fighting, but also improves the environment of performance watching as well as the stage equipment.

In the theatre's lobby, there are the museums of Cao Yu and the theatre, enhancing the cultural insight and artistic atmosphere. There are 970 soft seats in the auditorium, each of which is in muffling disposal, offering an easier environment for performances watching. The wall is equipped with Japanese sound absorbing board, which can restore actor’s voice at its maximum. This makes the auditorium excellent sound effect plus the first rate audio amplifying system. The new orchestra pit is divided into three parts, and can go up and down separately.

With American technology of spiraling, it moves smoothly, and can flexibly expand the performing space for different performing demands. The stage is equipped with 64 electric poles, all generated by German electric motor, and the speed can be adjusted freely. There are 200 Italian new type lights on stage, and 12 long focal distance lights, enhancing the effect of lighting on stage. All the facilities on the stage are computer controlled, including lighting, poles, roundtable, orchestra and the curtain. The newly changed projector and stereotype circling sound system can project digital dolby films. The new color monitoring system makes performances watching available in the lounge, make-up rooms, lighting control room and stage managing room.
